The Independent Picture House (IPH) is Charlotte’s only nonprofit community cinema. Opened in June 2022, IPH is owned and operated by The Charlotte Film Society, a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to providing a choice in moviegoing experiences. Today, IPH serves as a creative hub educating, engaging, and enabling all community members through the power of film.
The community arthouse cinema operates 365 days out of the year, and is dedicated to screening independent, foreign, and arthouse film. The non-profit cinema also manages the Charlotte Film Festival, Charlotte’s premiere annual film festival, and provides affordable and accessible spaces to all individuals through auditorium rentals.
